Ice Skating Texas Style

Speedy B and Cowodie were so excited to wake up to ice! They are wise to Texas weather and realized that if they were to enjoy it, (many times ice and snow will only last hours!) they could not waste time. So before 8:00 a.m., they were bundled up and outside skating on the drive.

They were also excited to find these icicles. One of them came off our van, the longer one is off our neighbors truck. True Texas style, the ice melted off the drive and streets by early just the bitter cold remains. It is forecasted to be in the low 20's tonight with windchills in the single digits.

While I have joked of the winter weather, it is not a laughing matter in my home state of Oklahoma. Friends and family members have shared their friend has no water because the water for their house comes from their pond and the pipes are frozen, my dad has been without electricity since heat for him either in his all electric house. Please pray for those affected by this storm system.

Oh my! I didn't know Texas got that cold!

I sure hope your father gets his power back and the others make it out ok as well!

This weather has been crazy everywhere. We have had so many storms - I can't wait till it is all over. We have another one coming in tonight. I sure hope we don't lose power.

Thank you for your sweet comment on my post about kindergarten. I sure wish some days that homeschooling was my gifting, but for now I think school will be the best option. As well, I really want him to become fluent in French, and my French is not good enough.

I hope your father gets power back soon. I hate it when we lose power - especially when we don't have heat.

Our driveway is covered in ice right now too. Unfortunately our driveway goes uphill at a steep angle and it's not going to get warm enough to melt for awhile. My neighbor got stuck half way up this morning when she came to drop off her son. I don't dare go out because I know I won't make it back up the driveway in my van.

I didn't realize it got so cold in TX. I'm glad your boys could have fun in the weather.

Thank you so much for your concern and for visiting my blog.

I've seen on the news casts about the rain and ice that struck Oklahoma, and even Texas. I'm glad your sons were able to enjoy it and that it didn't really cause you any problems. We got lucky. By the time the real cold arrived here (it's coming in today) the rain was all gone, and we are left with some very lightly falling snow flurries and a cold wind, and little more. But over the past two days we did got a LOT of rain, none of which we needed.....haha

Have a great week and take care :)
