Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Well for today's Tackle it Tuesday I am being really raw. I can't believe I am going to show this. I love to cook, I don't mind cleaning up....but I hate to clean my stovetop. I think part of it is because it is gas and I am afraid of what type of cleaner I can use. Part of it is I always get called away to do something else, but the biggest part is I just don't like too. So here is the ugly truth...please don't think too badly of me.

I don't know if you have one particular burner you like to cook from, I do. Of course it is the one that gets the nastiest. Gross!

Now lest you think too badly of me, I do wipe up every night after I cook. But I don't scrub. This burner is particularly bad because my son spilt some tomato soup on the burner.

After almost an hour of soaking in bleach water the gray covers were very easy to scrub. I used a combination of soft scrub, sos pads, hot water and a knife to scrape the cooktop. It looks amazingly better. I did have another shot of just the burner, but for some reason Blogger won't let me post.

Please scroll down and look at my curtains. They were last week's tackle. I got them finished!

How nice, Julie! A clean stovetop is a must-have! ;-)

I forgot today was Tuesday and didn't even THINK about completing a Tackle! How about you remind me to do a Tackle, and I'll remind you to water your plants.

Think awful of you? I think you're great! I purposefully didn't post my pics of my awful stove or oven (which I did for last week's TT). Your stove looks lovely! Thank you for baring all. Great tackle!

Ahhh ... a job well done! Doesn't it feel great? I promise I won't think badly of you because I'd never, ever post a picture of my oven.

Your stove looks as good as new now.

I hardly think you are alone in not enjoying cleaning up the gas stove top. I have the same problem, and yes, I too have a favorite burner that I use for most of my cooking. I did discover though that Easy-Off oven cleaner does a great job on the top of the stove as well as in an oven. Just spray it on and leave it for an hour or so, and then wife the gritty black stuff off. It not only cleans great, but it doesn't harm the surface of the stove-top at all. And another little tip, Easy-off oven cleaner is also the best stain remover you will find. I had a favorite sweather once that my mare (horse) licked me right up the front leaving a horrid green stain. It never washed out, so the sweater just layed around for a few years. (I was trying to convince myselt to toss it). Then I heard about Easy-off for removing stains, and thought I'm going to test this good. I sprayed the years-old stain on my sweater, let it soak overnight, and then put it in the wash. Amazingly the green stain was gone forever, and no harm done to my sweater either! Next time you have an impossible stain, grab the Easy Off. And next time your range needs a good cleaning, grab the Easy Off for that too! It works, I promise! :)
