Tackle it Tuesday #3 - the foyer

Tackle It Tuesday Meme
My tackle for this week was the same as Janice's, finish clean up from Christmas. I had two trees this year, as well as various decorations scattered throughout house. I had taken everything down but the most obvious...the tree in the foyer. So what did people see when they first walked in my house??? A Christmas tree.
Now this year is not as bad as the year we had Smoda. His birthday is December 13th and just after Christmas that year I was hit with a horrible case of baby blues. I did well to just make it through the day much less organize and put things away with a newborn, 3yo and 5yo and the children I babysat...ages 2 and 6.
Along about April, the exterminator came by to do his normal quarterly spraying, when he walked in my formal living room he exclaimed "boy, I wish my wife would let me keep up a Christmas tree all year".
"Tree???", I sputtered, "what tree?"
"Your Christmas tree, it is beautiful".
At that point it dawned upon me that I hadn't taken down my tree that year. Needless to say, it came down that afternoon!!
My tackle was the foyer, putting the tree back out in the storage shed, dust mopping the foyer and cleaning the items in the curio cabinet. It feels good having it all done. I wish I could post pictures.....but the camera battery is dead. I will try to have some pictures to go with it by the end of the day.

As much as I love putting decorations up, the house feels so much neater when they are gone. BTW, I'm a part of the monthly dishcloth KAL too. I can't wait to start tomorrow's mid month project.

I love the house when the decorations are down and put away! I was determined not to take too long doing it this year. Two hours later, all boxed up and ready for the attic. One week later, in the attic. I tried....

I just yesterday took down the wreaths outside. It feels good to have it all put away, doesn't it?!

Oh man - if it weren't for the daycare kids and hubby, my tree would be up all year round - and redecorated to match each season, lol.

great tackle! I know what you mean about baby blues, the year I had my son, we didn't take our tree down until about June, and it was a live tree! LOL, it was the maintenance man that finally said we HAD to take it down, as it was a fire hazard...

I just took my stuff own last week. I still need to put it in the storage area though.

Good for you getting it all finished. I bet it looks GREAT! :)

I can't imagine coping with the baby blues AND all those kids!!!! Good for you for surviving!

I think the longest I ever had my tree up was one year when I took it down at the end of January. My mom was giving me enough grief as it was. I can't imagine how much more she would have picked on me if it had been April! ;)

Here's to getting our trees put away earlier this year! :D

Julie,
I'd love to see a pic of your new sock. I'll try to answer your questions about spi. Generally, the smaller the spi, the tighter the gauge, the more comfortable and longer wearing the sock will be. When the spi is big, one can feel the purl bumps on the bottom of the foot and the sock can feel uncomfortable. If the sock is knit at too many spi for the yarn it will feel loose and not hold its shape and will wear out quickly.

None of this accounts for how different yarns feel, however. The Bearfoot has mohair in it and while it doesn't feel itchy to me like some mohair can, it could account for the "funny" feeling on the foot. Your STR sock probably feels more comfortable than your other sock because STR is so soft and cushy. I imagine your Artyarns socks will be very, very comfortable because Artyarns is great yarn.

Hope this helps a little.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. I truly appreciate them.

Luckily we are late usually in Sweden with putting down the xmas things, but this year everybody seems to be earlier than usual - except me! So mine went down too.

But I have one left: my blog xmas theme.... *ashamed* (but working on it!)

My tree came down Christmas day... literally! It fell down on us and we took it down and threw it out that day, and then took advantage of the sales on the 26th to get one we will put up next year. Great tackle, mine is up.
